On Wednesday, students and staff from Traver School dropped off over 1,500 items to the Lake Geneva Food Pantry. Students started to collect nonperishables as a school soup drive for National Soup Month and transformed it into a major food drive for the Pantry. Pictured are students with some of their donations.

On Saturday, January 29, 2022, with well over 1,000 participants, The Abominable Snow Race (https://www.facebook.com/abominablesnowrace) racers, volunteers, and organizers took part in an extreme, athletic, winter event to raise funds for the Lake Geneva Food Pantry to help address food insecurity in our community. The Yeti Nation hosted this physical challenge of 5.8 miles and 24 obstacles, with teams bringing in an astounding amount of donations for the Pantry through team fundraising, selling gear, and impromptu donations on site. Bill Wolfe, Owner, Race Director ASR Events, LLC presented a check for $4,300 to the Lake Geneva Food Pantry. Accepting for the Pantry were Nancy LaCursia (long-time LGFP volunteer) and Annmarie Ruggiero (LGFP volunteer and board member), while Cathy Koch (LGFP volunteer) kept the info table staffed. Lake Geneva Jaycees, in collaboration with Stinebrink’s Piggly Wiggly, donated, dropped off, carried in, AND helped put away enough turkeys, buns, pies, whipping cream, corn, beans, cranberries, and other side dishes, along with a monetary donation, to ensure that all of our patrons can enjoy a traditional holiday meal this season. The Lake Geneva Food Pantry is incredibly thankful to be the beneficiary of such gifts, which allows us to continue our mission of serving the Lake Geneva community. Students and teachers from the Lake Geneva Middle School S.O.U.L. (Service and Outreach Uniting Leaders) Program dropped off the fruits of their labors. The students, along with advisor Jennifer Kinney, collected over 1,000 pounds of foodstuffs in a five-day period. Amazing! Seeing the goodwill and selflessness of our local students was truly heartwarming for our volunteers and clients. We are grateful.
Yeti from the Abominable Snow Race stopped by to help at the Lake Geneva Food Pantry and posed for some photos as well. Racers will take part in a winter themed course and raise funds for the Pantry. See Abominable Snow Race on Facebook or the Event Post for more information on how you can take part. Or you can donate directly HERE. The Lake Geneva Food Pantry gratefully accepted 2 huge boxes of food donations and a generous check from the Peck & Weiss Christmas drive. Thank you for helping us to make the holidays brighter for the needy in our community!
The Lake Geneva Jaycees arrived today with food to provide the needy in our community with delicious Thanksgiving meals.
Thank you so much! All of these items were collected at the Lake Geneva Fire Department and then added to the Lake Geneva Middle School donation. If you see someone from the Fire Department, please thank them for helping to fill up our shelves! Thank you to the Lake Geneva Middle School for your AMAZING donation! The Lake Geneva Food Pantry is extremely grateful for the generous donation from Piggly Wiggly, which was made possible by all the selfless “rounding up” customer donations. We are open and here to serve the needy rain, sunshine or snow! |
